Your Hand In Mine

inspired by the song of the same name performed by Explosions in the Sky

Galloping

Jumping

Falling

Rolling on the earth

Turning and turning

Tasting

The dizzy dirty lusty joy

Until

At last

I stand and run

My feet collapsing plod upon slog on the sand

Where the sea meets the terra

Once again

I spin

I dervish and I splash

Unaware of the dizziness until

I splash teeth first

and my giggles beget

Gargles

Beneath the wave

I flop on my back

To admire the sky

A temporary fish

In a transitional ocean

I forget to gasp

And drink the salty horizon

Then

It begins again

At once

Both sea

And sky

I step up and up

Until a hundred billion jagged little stars

Are my footstool

As they witness my hugest smile.

This must be

The essence of peace.
